| 1. |
Trace butterfly pattern onto vellum paper. Outline edges with white pearl dimensional paper paint. Let dry, and then cut out using fine tip scissors. |
| 2. |
Cut 18 strips of 4” purple quilling paper and roll into leaf shapes with quilling tool. Glue ends with ZIP DRY. Cut 4 strips of 4” green quilling paper and roll into the marquis shape, gluing ends. Cut 4 strips of 8” white quilling paper and roll into open hearts. Roll two 8” strips of purple quilling paper into tight circles, gluing ends before removing from tool. Gently pull off tool to create a cone shape. Glue the two cone shapes together to form the butterfly’s body. |
| 3. |
Swirl blue and white acrylic paints on journal front with sponge and let dry. |
| 4. |
Cut a piece of handmade paper to fit down the right front edge of the journal. Tear one edge for a ragged look. Glue to journal with ZIP DRY. |
| 5. |
Glue purple squares to upper third of the journal with ZIP DRY and then glue the aqua squares slightly askew on top of the purple squares as in the photo. |
| 6. |
Glue white vellum butterfly onto the upper right corner of the middle aqua square with ZIP DRY. Set something heavy on top to prevent curling. After drying, glue on the 4 white hearts to each wing, 2 purple leaf shapes to the top wings and one to the bottom wing. |
| 7. |
Using DAZZLE-TAC, add iridescent pearls onto the butterfly, middle square, and antenna near head. |
| 8. |
On each of the two other aqua squares, glue 6 purple leaf shapes and 2 marquis green shapes for leaves on each. Add pearls with DAZZLE-TAC. |
| 9. |
Cut one 8” length from both the blue and purple wire, curling one end into a spiral shape. String several pearls on each wire. Make a spiral onto the other end to close. |
| 10. |
Thread purple fibers through the journal holes and tie in a knot. Fold each beaded wire in half and place in the center of the knot and tie another knot to hold in place. Add some DAZZLE-TAC to hold beads and wires onto the journal. |
